100 years Bauhaus

2019 marks a significant anniversary. In 1919, the Bauhaus was founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar, bringing together avant-garde design and art in a never before seen school of modern art.

Born into a difficult time after WWI and ressentiments among the masses, Gropius however managed to bring together the greats of modern art in one place, such as Paul Klee, Oskar Schlemmer, and Wassily Kandinsky. One key focus area was modern architecture and word-famous architects like Le Corbusier followed the Bauhaus style. Bauhaus architecture can be found all over the world from Miami to Tel Aviv all the way to Hong Kong.

Simplicity and clean lines are also present in some great watch designs and if there is one Bauhaus watch, then it must be the Girard-Perregaux Damier.
